10 Specialties That Are The Least Burned Out

The COVID-19 pandemic affected physicians in a number of ways, according to Medscape’s “2021 Physician Burnout & Suicide Report.”

According to a Medscape poll of 12,339 doctors in 29 specialties conducted from Aug. 30, 2020, through Nov. 5, 2020, burnout rates stayed about the same despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the fact that COVID-19 was still going strong when this survey was completed, burnout rates remained fairly constant.

Here are the 10 specialties that are the least burned out:

  • Dermatology: 29%
  • Plastic surgery: 31%
  • Oncology: 33%
  • Orthopedics: 33%
  • ENT: 33%
  • Pathology: 35%
  • General surgery: 35%
  • Ophthalmology: 35%
  • Public health: 35%
  • Radiology: 36%
