The COVID-19 pandemic affected physicians in a number of ways, according to Medscape’s “2021 Physician Burnout & Suicide Report.”
According to a Medscape poll of 12,339 doctors in 29 specialties conducted from Aug. 30, 2020, through Nov. 5, 2020, burnout rates stayed about the same despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the fact that COVID-19 was still going strong when this survey was completed, burnout rates remained fairly constant.
Here are the 10 specialties that are the least burned out:
- Dermatology: 29%
- Plastic surgery: 31%
- Oncology: 33%
- Orthopedics: 33%
- ENT: 33%
- Pathology: 35%
- General surgery: 35%
- Ophthalmology: 35%
- Public health: 35%
- Radiology: 36%
